A cannabis social club (CSC) is a private, non-profit association where members pool funds to collectively grow cannabis for their own use — nobody buys it off a shelf.

That structure is what separates a CSC from a dispensary or an Amsterdam-style coffeeshop, both of which are for-profit businesses open to any adult who walks in. A CSC only exists for its own members, funds itself through membership contributions rather than retail sales, and holds an annual general assembly where members review the books.
